Draft a document template with an AI assistant

Give Claude or ChatGPT your own letter, form, PDF, Excel sheet or Word file as a reference, let it draft the template in NirmaanOne with merge fields and if/else wording, check the previews it shows, then preview and publish the draft yourself in Settings > Documents.

Draft a document template with an AI assistant

Let a connected assistant do the typing: it reads your existing letter or form, writes the template with merge fields and if/else wording, and shows you previews against real records. You stay in charge of the last two steps: previewing in NirmaanOne and publishing.

Before you start

  • Your assistant is connected (an administrator has allowed AI connectors, and you have connected it under Settings > AI connectors).
  • The Create permission on Document Templates for the assistant to save a draft as you, and Publish on Document Templates for the last step.
  • Your reference file. Any type works: a photo or scan of a printed letter, a PDF, an Excel cost sheet, a Word agreement. The assistant reads it for wording and structure only; NirmaanOne never stores it.

Steps

  1. Connect your assistant to NirmaanOne if you have not yet. Your connection shows as Active under Your connections.
  2. Under Skills for your assistant, click Download zip next to nirmaanone-documents and add it to your assistant (Claude: its Skills settings; ChatGPT: paste SKILL.md into a project's instructions and attach the reference files).
  3. Attach your reference file in the assistant and ask for the template, naming the record kind if you can ("for bookings", "for demands"). The assistant drafts it and saves it as a draft under Settings > Documents > Templates.
  4. Read the previews the assistant shows, one per case, and ask for changes in plain words until they read right.
  5. Open the draft under Settings > Documents > Templates and click Preview against records of your own choosing, one per if/else branch.
  6. Click Publish.

What happens next

The template is published and appears wherever documents are generated for that record kind. The assistant can now generate a document from it, but only when you ask, and it never sends one.

If something goes wrong

  • The assistant says a value has no merge field: NirmaanOne does not carry that value. Leave it as fixed text and edit it in the template, or ask the NirmaanOne team to add the field.
  • A table repeats wrongly or a condition seems ignored: the if/else must sit inside a table cell or in its own paragraph; see Design a new document template.
  • The assistant cannot save the draft: your role lacks the Create permission on Document Templates, or AI connectors are off; see Connecting an AI app is refused.
