Booking is cancelled or its schedule rows are no longer Pending: the change is refused

A cancelled booking accepts no edits, demands, receipts, commissions or reschedules, and on a live booking only Pending schedule rows can be re-dated; paid, partly paid, waived and cancelled rows stay as they are, and the payment plan of a booked estimate is changed by regenerating the termsheet, never by cancelling the plan.

Messages this explains

  • “This booking is cancelled and can no longer be changed.”
  • “A cancelled booking cannot be edited”
  • “A cancelled booking cannot be rescheduled”
  • “The booking is cancelled”
  • “The booking is cancelled; no new demands, receipts or commissions can be raised on it.”
  • “Cancelled on <date>: <reason> The unit and parking slots were released. Forfeited <x>; refund <y> (refund payout).”
  • “Installment <n> has no Pending rows left to edit”
  • “Only Pending schedule rows can be edited.”
  • “Only Pending rows can be edited (this one is <status>)”
  • “This termsheet is <status>. Regenerating changes the schedule the buyer has already seen.”
  • “This payment plan is on a booking; regenerate the termsheet instead”
  • “Complete the plan to see the schedule.”
  • “This installment waits on <stage>; a date here overrides that for every charge row.”

Booking is cancelled or its schedule rows are no longer Pending: the change is refused

You tried to edit a booking, re-date an installment, regenerate its schedule, raise a demand or cancel its payment plan, and the app said no. Either the booking has been cancelled, which is final, or the rows you want to touch have already moved past Pending.

What you see

On a cancelled booking. The header of every booking tab carries the banner "Cancelled on <date>: <reason> The unit and parking slots were released." and, when money was involved, "Forfeited <x>; refund <y> (refund payout)" with a link to the refund on the payment page (shown with the View permission on Payments). Edit and Cancel booking are gone from the booking header that every tab shares (see Booking overview), the possession card is read-only, Applicants & parking hides its buttons, Termsheet & schedule hides its status buttons, the pencil and Regenerate schedule, and Demands & money shows "The booking is cancelled; no new demands, receipts or commissions can be raised on it." and hides Raise demand, Record receipt and Accrue commission. Anything attempted from a stale page answers "This booking is cancelled and can no longer be changed." That is the app's wording for the server's own texts "A cancelled booking cannot be edited", "A cancelled booking cannot be rescheduled" and "The booking is cancelled", which only the AI assistant relays. Recording Form 16B on a Demand of a cancelled booking gets the same answer.

On a live booking's schedule (Termsheet & schedule):

  • The pencil Edit installment <n> is offered only on a Pending installment. If the rows changed under you, Save fails with "Installment <n> has no Pending rows left to edit". (The fallback wording "Only Pending schedule rows can be edited." appears only when the server sends no text of its own.)
  • The dialog's note "This installment waits on <stage>; a date here overrides that for every charge row." is information, not a block: the installment is linked to a construction stage, and a date typed here replaces the stage for every charge row in it.
  • Regenerate payment schedule warns "This termsheet is <status>. Regenerating changes the schedule the buyer has already seen." once the termsheet has left Draft (it is Issued, Accepted or Signed). You may still regenerate; the warning asks you to think first.
  • "Complete the plan to see the schedule." under the plan means the preview waits for a complete plan; the rows' own messages ("Add at least one row", "The rows add up to <n>%, not 100%" and so on) say what is missing.

On an offer row (Allottee and the offer drawer on Society & Tenants): editing a row that is no longer Pending fails with "Only Pending rows can be edited (this one is <status>)".

On the estimate's payment plan (Estimate): once the estimate is booked, cancelling its plan fails with "This payment plan is on a booking; regenerate the termsheet instead".

Why it happens

Cancellation is the end of a booking. The wizard reverses its demands, records the forfeiture and refund, releases the unit and parking slots and marks the opportunity Lost; everything that follows (refund payouts, credit notes) hangs off that record, so the booking itself is frozen. The same opportunity can never take a second booking.

On a live booking the schedule is the buyer's contract. A row that is Paid, Partially Paid, Waived or Cancelled has money or a decision attached to it, so it keeps its date and amount; only Pending rows can move. Regenerating rebuilds the open remainder from a new plan version and keeps every locked or hand-edited row, which is why the booked plan is never cancelled on the estimate: the booking, not the estimate, owns the schedule now.

How to fix it

  1. If the booking is cancelled, there is nothing to change on it. To sell the unit again, create a new opportunity for the buyer and take it through estimate, approval and booking; the unit is Available again (an allottee's unit went back to its previous status). To settle the refund, open the "refund payout" link in the banner and Mark cleared on the Payment, or collect it in a Refunds payout run.
  2. To re-date an installment that is still open, reload the page, press the pencil on the installment, set Due date and Save. You need the Edit permission on Bookings; in the default roles that is the Administrator, the Sales Manager and Legal & Documentation.
  3. If the installment is partly paid, its rows are locked. Leave them, and change the rest of the schedule with Regenerate schedule: the paid, partly paid, waived and hand-edited rows are kept and only the open remainder is rebuilt from the plan you enter (the Edit permission on Bookings). The dialog tells you how many rows are kept.
  4. To change a booked payment plan, use Regenerate schedule on the booking's Termsheet & schedule tab; the plan is saved as the next version on the estimate and the booking points at it.
  5. To bill or collect on the booking, use Raise demand, Record receipt and Accrue commission on Demands & money while the booking is Active.
  6. To cancel a live booking on purpose, press Cancel booking in the header and follow the Cancel booking wizard.

  • Raise demand finds nothing to bill, or refuses the rows pickedTroubleshooting

A demand bills open schedule rows: a row that is paid, cancelled, waived, empty or already on a live demand cannot be billed again, a booking needs its termsheet, a member offer must be issued before it is billed, and a demand without TDS has no Form 16B to record.
