Commissions
Every channel-partner commission accrued on bookings, with filters for status, payable state, project and books, and a shortcut to open each one.
Commissions
A commission is the brokerage you owe a channel partner on a booking they brought in. This page lists every commission in your organization so you can see what is accrued, what is approved and waiting to be paid, and what has been paid.
Where to find it
In the sidebar, open the Accounting group and choose Commissions. You also get here from All commissions on a booking's Demands & money tab, and from the Commissions breadcrumb on a commission's page.
You need the View permission on Commissions. Without it the page shows "No access" and "You do not have permission to view commissions. Ask your administrator." In the default roles, the Administrator, Finance Lead, Accountant, Project Manager, Sales Manager, Compliance Officer, Auditor and Rehab Officer can see commissions. The Sales Executive, Site Engineer, Front Desk and Legal & Documentation roles can't.
Before you start
Commissions are not created on this page. You accrue one with Accrue commission on the booking's Demands & money tab, on an active booking whose opportunity has a channel partner (or by picking the partner when you accrue).
What you see
The page header reads "Brokerage owed to channel partners on bookings. Approving a commission posts the accrual (brokerage and GST input debited, partner credited net of TDS); payouts settle it. Accrue new ones from the booking."
Filters and search
- Status: Any status, Accrued, Approved, Partially Paid, Paid or Cancelled.
- Open: Payable and settled (everything, the default), Payable only (commissions that are Approved or Partially Paid) or Settled or closed. Choosing a status clears this filter, and choosing here clears Status.
- Project: Any project, or one project. It shows when you have the View permission on Projects.
- Books: Any books, or one set of books. It shows when you have the View permission on Books and your organization keeps more than one set of books.
- Search (placeholder "Search by booking number or notes").
Columns
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Booking | The booking number, which opens the commission, with the project and the date the commission was accrued underneath. |
| Channel partner | The partner company, or the partner contact when there is no company; the contact underneath when both are set. |
| Basis | "…% of …", the percentage and the base amount, or "Fixed" when the gross was given as an amount. |
| Gross | The gross brokerage, with "+ GST …" (or "no GST") and "− TDS …" underneath. |
| Net payable | What the partner receives: gross plus GST less TDS, with "… paid" underneath once something has been paid. |
| Status | The status badge. |
| (actions) | The eye icon (tooltip "Open"). |
The newest commissions come first. Click a column title to sort by it. When nothing matches, the grid reads "No commissions match".
What you can do
Open
The eye icon on a row, or a click on the booking number, opens the Commission.
- Who: anyone who can see this list.
Statuses
- Accrued (grey): recorded on the booking; nothing posted yet. It can still be edited or deleted.
- Approved (blue): the accrual journal is posted and the partner's bill is open for payment.
- Partially Paid (amber): part of the net payable has been paid and cleared.
- Paid (green): the net payable has been paid in full.
- Cancelled (red): withdrawn; an approved commission is reversed.
The Commission article explains which action moves a commission from one status to the next.
Things to know
- Net payable is what the partner gets. GST at the rate you enter (18% when the partner is GST registered) is added on the gross brokerage, and TDS (section 194H, 2% by default) is deducted from the gross; the partner is paid gross plus GST less TDS. For example, 2% of ₹1,20,00,000 is ₹2,40,000 gross; with 18% GST (₹43,200) and 2% TDS (₹4,800) the net payable is ₹2,78,400.
- Approval is what posts the accrual. Until a commission is approved, it is only a note on the booking. Approving it needs the Edit permission on Commissions; there is no separate approval permission. Where the brokerage lands depends on the books' revenue policy: when it capitalises brokerage and the project's expected possession is blank or more than the policy's months away, approval debits 1270 Contract Acquisition Costs and the revenue runs release it to expense as the booking's revenue is recognised; otherwise it is brokerage expense at once. The list shows no difference between the two; see Commission.
- Commissions are paid one at a time from the commission's page, or in bulk with a Commissions payout run, which picks up every Approved or Partially Paid commission with something still outstanding in the chosen books.
- The Books filter here works differently from the books switcher on the Demands and Payments pages: this list shows every set of books unless you pick one.
- A commission can show a percentage basis even when the gross was typed in. When the partner company has a default commission percentage, it is stored as the basis alongside the gross you gave.
- Your organization can rename the grid's column titles, so your screen may use different words.

A set of books is the ledger of one promoter company: every posting for a project lands in its promoter's books, every accounting screen works on the one set chosen in the Books switcher, and cost centres inside the books (usually one per project with a child per tower) let the ledger and reports be cut by project.
- Accrue a channel partner's commissionHow-to
Record the brokerage a channel partner has earned on a booking, from the booking's Demands & money tab: partner, base, percentage or fixed gross, GST and TDS, giving an Accrued commission that is then approved and paid.
- Approve a commissionHow-to
Approve an Accrued channel-partner commission so its accrual journal is posted (brokerage and GST input debited, the partner credited net of TDS, TDS payable credited) and it becomes payable.
- Pay a commission on its ownHow-to
Pay one approved channel-partner commission straight from its page: record the payout against the commission, then clear it so the payment voucher posts and the commission moves to Partially Paid or Paid.
- Pay commissions through a payout runHow-to
Pay every approved channel-partner commission of a set of books in one batch: draft a Commissions payout run (one payout per partner), have it approved, export the bank file for net banking, then clear the run with the bank's UTRs.
