Accrue a channel partner's commission
Record the brokerage a channel partner has earned on a booking, from the booking's Demands & money tab: partner, base, percentage or fixed gross, GST and TDS, giving an Accrued commission that is then approved and paid.
Accrue a channel partner's commission
When a channel partner brought the buyer, you record the brokerage they have earned on the booking. The commission is worked out from a base (normally the booking's agreed total) and a percentage, or typed as a fixed amount, with GST on the brokerage and TDS under section 194H deducted from it. It starts as Accrued: nothing is posted to the books until someone approves it.
Before you start
- The booking is Active. Commissions can't be accrued on a cancelled booking, and never on an allottee's booking (a landowner, PAP tenant or society member buying their own allotted unit).
- The channel partner is registered as a company, ideally with its Default commission percent filled in, which the commission uses when you leave Basis empty (Register a channel partner). If the opportunity names the partner, it is picked for you.
- You need the Create permission on Commissions (in the default roles only the Administrator and the Finance Lead). To see the commission card on the booking you need the View permission on Commissions. Searching for a partner company needs the View permission on Companies; picking a partner contact needs the View permission on Contacts.
Steps
- Open the booking and choose the Demands & money tab. The Channel-partner commission card reads "Partner on the opportunity: <company>." or "The opportunity has no channel partner; pick one when accruing.", and lists the booking's commissions (Booking, Channel partner, Basis, Gross, Net payable, Status). See Demands & money.
- Click Accrue commission. The panel "Accrue commission on <booking no>" opens with the sections Channel partner and Amounts, and a Notes box.
- Check Partner company. It defaults to the opportunity's partner ("Defaults to the opportunity's partner, <company>."); left empty, the opportunity's partner is used ("Leave empty to use the opportunity's partner."). If the brokerage goes to a person at the partner, pick them in Partner contact (optional).
- Fill in the amounts:
- Base amount: leave it empty to use the booking's agreed total ("Defaults to the booking's agreed total.").
- Basis (%): the percentage of the base ("Or give a gross amount."). Left empty, the partner company's Default commission percent applies when the commission is saved.
- Gross (override): a fixed brokerage instead of base × basis ("Leave empty to compute base × basis.").
- GST on brokerage (%): "18% when the partner is GST registered."; leave it empty for no GST.
- TDS section and TDS rate (%): they start filled in with 194H and 2 ("0 for no deduction."). With a rate of 0 no TDS is deducted and no section is kept. The strip below shows Gross, GST, TDS and Net payable ("Estimate from what is typed; the server computes the final figures (partner default and the agreed total apply to blank fields).").
- Add any Notes and click Accrue commission. You see "Commission accrued: <net> net payable." and the commission's page opens with the status Accrued. See Commission.
- Check the Details card (partner company and contact, booking, agreed total) and the Amounts card (Basis, Gross brokerage, GST, TDS, Net payable). To correct the figures, click Edit ("Edit commission on <booking no>"), change them and click Save changes; you see "Commission updated."
Example
2% of an agreed total of ₹1,20,00,000 gives a gross of ₹2,40,000. GST at 18% adds ₹43,200 and TDS under 194H at 2% of the gross takes off ₹4,800, so the net payable to the partner is ₹2,78,400 (gross + GST − TDS).
What happens next
- The commission is Accrued: nothing is posted yet, and it can't be paid. Someone approves it next, which posts the accrual journal and fixes the amounts: Approve a commission.
- An accrued commission appears on the Commissions list (sidebar Accounting > Commissions) and on the booking's Channel-partner commission card.
- While it is Accrued you can also Delete it ("The accrued commission is removed; nothing was posted yet."), with the Delete permission on Commissions, or Cancel it.
- If the booking is cancelled before the commission is paid, the cancellation wizard can claw it back (Cancel a booking).
If something goes wrong
- "Give a basis percent or a gross amount (or a partner with a default percent)", "Give gross_amount, or basis_percent (or a channel partner with a default commission percent)", "The booking has no channel partner; pick the partner company or contact." or "An allottee buying their allotted unit earns no channel partner commission": the app can't tell how much to accrue or to whom, or the booking can't carry a commission. See Commission cannot be accrued (trouble.payouts.commission-cannot-be-accrued).
- Accrue commission isn't shown and the tab reads "The booking is cancelled; no new demands, receipts or commissions can be raised on it.", or you see "This booking is cancelled and can no longer be changed.": see Booking is cancelled (trouble.bookings.booking-locked).
- "Searching companies needs the Companies permission; the booking's partner is used." in the panel (the Partner company box is then locked), or Accrue commission is missing on an active booking: your role lacks a permission. Partner contact (optional) only shows with the View permission on Contacts. See No access or no permission (trouble.admin.no-access).
- "Only an Accrued commission can be edited; cancel it and record a new one.": the commission was approved meanwhile. Cancel it and accrue a new one if the figures are wrong.
Things to know
- Editing recomputes the gross. The edit panel opens with Gross (override) empty, so saving any change works the gross out again from base × basis. If the commission was a fixed amount, type the gross again before you save.
- The partner can't be changed by editing. The edit panel shows Partner company and Partner contact, but a change there is not saved. Delete the commission and accrue it again for another partner.
- The estimate strip ignores the partner's default percent until you type a basis or a gross, so it may show ₹0 even though the saved commission will use the default.
- When you edit, Basis shows the partner's default ("Partner default <n>%.") if the partner company has one, and Save changes stays greyed out until you change something.

- Channel partner commissionsConcept
Brokerage owed to the channel partner who sourced a booking: accrued from the booking with a basis percent or a gross amount, GST and TDS under 194H, approved to post the accrual journal, and paid out singly or through a Commissions payout run.
- Commission cannot be accrued: no basis or gross, no channel partner, or an allottee purchaseTroubleshooting
A channel-partner commission needs a partner and an amount it can work out: type a basis percent or a gross amount, or pick a partner company whose default commission percent fills the basis; an allottee buying their own allotted unit never earns a commission.
- Booking is cancelled or its schedule rows are no longer Pending: the change is refusedTroubleshooting
A cancelled booking accepts no edits, demands, receipts, commissions or reschedules, and on a live booking only Pending schedule rows can be re-dated; paid, partly paid, waived and cancelled rows stay as they are, and the payment plan of a booked estimate is changed by regenerating the termsheet, never by cancelling the plan.
- "No access" or "You do not have permission": your role lacks a permissionTroubleshooting
Every screen, button and picker is gated by a permission on a module; your role decides which you hold, so a missing one shows as a No access card, a refused action, a greyed-out button with a hover reason, or a picker that explains which permission it needs.
