Day book
Every posted voucher line in a date range as a paged grid you can sort, resize and filter by column, with totals for what the filters match and CSV export.
Day book
Every voucher line posted in a date range, as a grid you can sort, filter by column and page through. Use it to review what was entered on a day or in a month, for example before locking a period, or to find every movement on one ledger.
Where to find it
Open Accounting > Reports in the sidebar and choose the Day book tab. You need the View permission on Reports and on Books, as described on the Ledger report. The Books switcher at the top right chooses the books.
What you see
Filters across the top: From and To. They start on the current month: from its first day (or the start of the fiscal year, if later) to today.
A summary line reads "<from> to <to> · <n> vouchers · <n> lines · debits <amount> · credits <amount>". It counts everything the current range and column filters match, not just the page on screen.
The grid lists one row per voucher line, 50 to a page, with the columns Date, Voucher (the number as a link to the Voucher, with "line <n>" under it), Type, Status, Ledger code, Ledger, Debit, Credit and Narration (the line's own narration, else the voucher's). Lines come in date order, then by voucher number and line number, until you sort otherwise. When nothing was posted in the range the grid reads "No posted vouchers in this range."
Above the grid a search box ("Search by voucher, ledger, reference or narration") matches the voucher number, reference, ledger code or name and the narration.
What you can do
Sort, resize and page
Click a column header to sort by it (click again for the other direction); drag the edge of a header to resize the column. The pager under the grid moves between pages and offers 10, 20, 50 or 100 rows a page. Sorting and paging happen on the server, so the grid stays quick as the books grow.
Filter a column
Under each header is a filter cell:
- Date: one date-range picker (a start date and an end date, dd-mm-yyyy, with a calendar that picks both); either end may be left blank.
- Voucher, Ledger and Narration: type text to keep the lines that contain it, with the operator menu beside it.
- Type: a list of the books' voucher types ("Any type" clears it); Status: Posted or Reversed ("Any status"); Ledger code: a list of the books' ledgers as "<code> · <name>" ("Any ledger").
- Debit and Credit: an amount with the operator menu (is equal to, greater than or equal to, less than or equal to…).
Filters combine, and the summary line and the pager follow them. Clear a text or amount filter with its clear button, a list with its blank entry, the dates by clearing both ends.
Export CSV
Downloads one row per voucher line with the columns Date, Voucher, Type, Status, Ledger code, Ledger, Debit, Credit and Narration, for every line the current range, search and column filters match, fetched page by page.
- When it's greyed out: until From and To are set; it shows a spinner while it fetches.
- The export stops at 20,000 lines and says "Exported the first 20000 lines only; narrow the range or the filters for the rest."
Things to know
- Only posted vouchers appear, including reversed ones. Drafts and cancelled drafts are left out; find those on the Vouchers list.
- A reversal shows twice. A reversed voucher and the reversal that cancels it both appear, and both count in the debits and credits, even though together they net to zero.
- One row per line, not per voucher. A Contra voucher for a RERA sweep is three rows (the separate and operative accounts debited, the collection account credited); the receipt it follows is two.
- From after To shows nothing. The day book doesn't warn you; it just shows an empty range.

- Vouchers, reversals and system vouchersConcept
A voucher is the only way an amount enters the ledger: a dated header with balanced debit and credit lines, editable as a Draft, numbered and frozen when posted, corrected only by a mirrored reversal; demands, payments, commissions, benefit accruals, cancellations, revenue runs and the year-end close post their own system vouchers the same way.
- Review the month and lock the periodHow-to
At month end, read the day book for the month, check that the trial balance is balanced, check key ledgers such as the bank, cross-check the period balances, and then lock the month on the books' Fiscal years tab so nothing more posts into it.
