Ageing
What each party owes you (receivables) or you owe each party (payables), split by how overdue the open bills are, with CSV export.
Ageing
Who owes you money and how late it is, or whom you owe and how late you are. Each row is one party ledger, with its open bills split into ageing buckets. Use it to chase overdue buyers or to plan payments to vendors and brokers.
Where to find it
Open Accounting > Reports in the sidebar and choose the Ageing tab. You need the View permission on Reports and on Books, as described on the Ledger report. The Books switcher at the top right chooses the books.
Before you start
The report works from bills on bill-wise ledgers (see Outstanding bills). Amounts that aren't tied to a bill don't appear here.
What you see
Filters across the top:
- Receivables / Payables: money owed to you, or money you owe. It starts on Receivables.
- As of: the date the ageing is measured from. It starts on today.
- Party kind: All parties, People, Companies or Society members.
- Ledger: one bill-wise ledger (placeholder "Any bill-wise ledger").
A summary line reads "Owed to us" (or "Owed by us") "as of <date>: <n> parties, <n> open bills."
The table:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Party | The person or company the ledger belongs to, "<ledger name> (member <no>)" for a society member, or the ledger name when it has no party. The ledger code and "oldest due <date>" appear underneath. |
| Not due | Open amounts not yet due, or with no due date. |
| 1–30 days, 31–60 days, 61–90 days | Open amounts that many days past their due date. |
| Over 90 days | Open amounts more than 90 days late, in red when above zero. |
| Total | Everything open for the party. |
| Bills | How many open bills make up the row. |
Rows are ordered by total, largest first. A Totals row ends the table. When nothing is open the table reads "No open bills."
What you can do
Receivables / Payables
Switches between what others owe you (debit bills) and what you owe others (credit bills).
Bills
The count in the Bills column is a link to the Outstanding bills tab. The tab opens on every open bill, so choose the ledger again in its ledger filter.
- Who: anyone with the View permission on Vouchers. Without it the count is plain text.
Export CSV
Downloads the rows with the columns Ledger, Party, the five buckets, Total, Bills and Oldest due, plus a totals row.
- When it's greyed out: until the report has loaded.
Things to know
- How a bill is aged. Days overdue = the As of date minus the bill's due date. Only bills dated on or before the As of date with something still outstanding are counted.
- A past "As of" date isn't a snapshot of the past. The outstanding amount always reflects every settlement posted so far, even settlements dated after the date you picked. Only the bucket moves.
- Advances and on-account money don't show. Money recorded as Advance or On Account isn't tied to a bill, so a party with an unallocated advance can still appear as owing its full bills.
- The bucket names here ("1–30 days", "Over 90 days") are written slightly differently on the Outstanding bills tab ("1-30 days", "90+ days"). They are the same buckets.

A party ledger is the bill-wise ledger a set of books keeps for one buyer, society member, channel partner or vendor, created on first use with a generated code; every posting on it is allocated as New Ref (opens a bill), Against Ref (settles one), Advance or On Account, so the books know what each bill still owes and how overdue it is.
