Company (<company name>)

One company's registrations, contact details, type-specific details, the people you deal with there and its bank accounts, with shortcuts to edit, delete or read the record's history.

Company (<company name>)

This page shows one company in full: its registrations, how to reach it, the details that belong to its type, the people you deal with there and its bank accounts. From here you edit or delete the company, attach people, add bank accounts and read who changed the record.

Where to find it

From the Companies list, click the company name or the Open icon. You also land here after Create company and after Save changes on the edit form, and from the company's name on a bank account, on a set of books, on an opportunity and on a commission. The breadcrumbs read Companies > <company name>.

You need the View permission on Companies. Without it the page shows "No access" and "You do not have permission to view companies. Ask your administrator." When the company does not exist the header reads "Company", the breadcrumb "Not found", and a link offers Back to companies.

What you see

The header shows the company name, its type badge and a red Inactive badge when the company is inactive, with the legal name (when it differs) and "<city>, <state>" underneath.

Left column:

  • Registrations: Entity structure, PAN, GSTIN, and for a promoter entity CIN, TAN and Incorporated; for a vendor or contractor MSME / Udyam.
  • Contact & address: Phone, Email, Website, Address, City, State, PIN code.
  • The type section, titled RERA & signatory (promoter: RERA promoter no., Authorized signatory, Designation), Channel partner (RERA agent no., Agent valid until, Default commission, Authorized signatory, Designation), Vendor (Vendor category) or Contractor (Trade / category, Authorized signatory, Designation). A type you added yourself shows every field under Type-specific details.
  • Notes, when there are any.

Right column:

  • People: "Directors, sales heads and other contacts at this company." Each row shows the person's name, a blue Primary badge on the primary contact, their designation, and "<phone> · <email>". When empty: "No people yet" and "Attach the people you deal with at this company." The primary contact is listed first.
  • Bank accounts: "Where this owner is paid, or pays from." Each row shows the bank, the account number, the Primary, Verified / Unverified and Inactive chips, then the holder name, IFSC, branch, purpose and project, and "Joint · N" for a joint account. When empty: "No bank accounts" and "Add the account to pay this owner into." The primary account is listed first. The card appears only if you hold the View permission on Bank Accounts. Add account opens the account panel with the owner fixed and the Purpose already chosen from the company's type: Channel Partner Payout for a Channel Partner, Operating for a Promoter Entity (the hint reads "<purpose>, from the company type; change it if this account is for something else."). A vendor's or contractor's account starts with no purpose. A holder created from this panel with New person or New gets the Contact type of the company's kind (Channel Partner, or Vendor for a vendor or contractor), just as Add person does.
  • Record: Created and Updated dates.

What you can do

History

Opens the panel "History · <company name>" with every change to the company, newest first. See History panel.

  • Who: anyone with the View permission on Companies or on Audit Trail.

Edit

Opens Edit company.

  • Who: anyone with the Edit permission on Companies. The button isn't shown otherwise.

Delete

Asks "Delete company?": "<name> and its attached contacts will be removed. A company used as a promoter, channel partner, bank-account holder or accounting entity cannot be deleted; deactivate it instead." Confirm with Delete. On success a message reads Company "<name>" deleted. and you return to the list.

  • Who: anyone with the Delete permission on Companies. In the default roles that is the Administrator and the Finance Lead. The button isn't shown otherwise.
  • What can go wrong: "Company cannot be deleted: linked <projects, opportunities, bank accounts, accounting books>" names what still refers to the company; a commission naming it as channel partner shows "That conflicts with existing data." Untick Active on the edit form instead.

Attach

Opens the panel "Attach a person". Under Person, switch between New person (the inline fields Prefix, First name, Last name, Phone, Email, Alternate phone, PAN) and Existing contact (a search, placeholder "Search by name, phone or email", with a New button beside it that opens the contact panel and selects the person you add; the button needs the Create permission on Contacts). The switch and the search appear only if you can view contacts; otherwise you can only enter a new person. Then Designation (placeholder "e.g. Director, Sales head"; hint "Optional") and Primary contact ("The person to reach first for this company."). Click Attach. A message reads "<name> attached."

A new person is created as a contact of type Channel Partner for a channel-partner company, otherwise Vendor, and this company is filled in as the Company on their record (an existing person without a company gets it too), so the contact and the People card agree. Marking someone Primary contact removes the flag from the previous primary.

  • Who: anyone with the Edit permission on Companies. The button isn't shown otherwise.
  • What can go wrong: "First name is required", "Enter a phone number (at least 5 digits)" or "Pick a contact" on the form; "This person is already attached to the company." when the contact is already listed. If the Channel Partner or Vendor contact type is missing from your lookups the app reports "The 'Tenant' contact type is not configured. Ask an administrator to add it under Lookups." (the wording names the wrong type; add the missing contact type under Lookups).

Edit a person (pencil)

The pencil icon on a row (tooltip "Edit <name>") opens the same panel titled with the person's name, where only Designation and Primary contact can change. Click Save changes (greyed out until you change something). A message reads "<name> updated."

  • Who: anyone with the Edit permission on Companies. To change the person's own details, edit them under Contacts.

Detach

The trash icon on a row (tooltip "Detach <name>") asks "Detach person?": "<name> will no longer be listed under <company name>. The contact record itself is kept." Confirm with Detach. A message reads "<name> detached."

  • Who: anyone with the Edit permission on Companies.

Add (bank account)

Opens the bank account panel titled "New account for <company name>", with the owner fixed to this company and the account holder name pre-filled. The fields and rules are described under Bank accounts.

  • Who: anyone with the Create permission on Bank Accounts. The button isn't shown otherwise.

Edit or open a bank account

The pencil icon on an account row (tooltip "Edit account <number>") opens it for editing; with only the View permission on Bank Accounts the icon is an arrow (tooltip "Open account <number>") and the panel is read-only. The trash icon (tooltip "Delete account <number>", needs the Delete permission on Bank Accounts) asks the same "Delete bank account?" question as the register.

Statuses

The company is Active or Inactive. A person's link is Primary or not. Bank accounts carry the Primary, Verified / Unverified and Inactive flags.

Things to know

  • People are links, not copies. Attaching a contact lists them here; detaching removes only the listing. The contact record stays under Contacts, and the same person can be attached to several companies.
  • One primary contact per company. The primary is listed first on the card; marking a new primary clears the old one.
  • Deleting the company drops its people links but keeps the contacts, despite the dialog's wording.
  • The Bank accounts card is hidden without the View permission on Bank Accounts, with no hint that accounts exist. Ask an administrator if you expect to see them.
  • A promoter's RERA accounts for a project are added here (or under Bank accounts): the Collection account (every buyer payment enters it; the bank sweeps it daily), the RERA separate account (the escrow share of every sweep), the Operative account (the rest; refunds are paid from it) and the optional GST account (a buyer's GST banked apart, never swept). Each one is pinned to a project, and these four purposes are offered only on a company's account; a project is ready to sell and collect once the first three exist with their bank ledgers. Saving one creates its bank ledger when the promoter's books are active. See that article and RERA accounts and the daily sweep.
  • History covers the company and its people links, since a person's attachment belongs to the company record. Its bank accounts are their own records; their changes appear in Settings > Audit log under the Project settings component.

  • Contacts, companies and company typesConcept

A contact is a person; a company is a legal entity with people attached. The company type decides which registrations the form asks for (promoter, channel partner, vendor, contractor), and a channel partner's default commission feeds the commissions on the bookings it brings.

  • Promoter entityConcept

The company developing a project; every project must name one, and its books and bank accounts are where the project's demands, receipts and payouts are posted.

  • RERA accounts and the daily sweepConcept

Every buyer payment enters the project's collection account; the bank sweeps it daily, the escrow share (70% under RERA 2016, or the project's own share) to the RERA separate account and the rest to the operative account. NirmaanOne mirrors the sweep as a Contra voucher per receipt the moment it clears, records certified withdrawals from the separate account, warns on receipts banked elsewhere and reports where the money stands; it never moves the money itself.
