Amenities

List what the new project provides, either once for the whole project (clubhouse, pool) or on particular towers (refuge unit, society office).

Amenities

Record what the new project provides. An amenity is listed either once for the whole project (clubhouse, swimming pool, gym) or on each tower that has it (refuge unit, society office, tower lobby), never both.

Where to find it

Open a project and choose the Amenities tab. The Manage link on the Amenities card of the setup wizard's Amenities, parking, stages & pricing step also brings you here.

You need the View permission on Projects. Without it the page shows "No access" and "You do not have permission to view project amenities. Ask your administrator."

Before you start

  • The amenity must be in your organization's list. The kinds of amenity (clubhouse, gym, refuge unit…) come from Settings > Lookups > Amenities. Picking one needs the View permission on Lookups. Inactive amenities aren't offered.
  • Per-tower amenities need towers. Add towers on the Structure tab first. Picking and seeing tower names needs the View permission on Towers, Floors & Units.

What you see

Project-wide amenities

"Shared by everyone in the project: clubhouse, swimming pool, gym… An amenity listed here cannot also be listed per tower." When empty: "Nothing project-wide yet" and "Add the amenities the whole project shares."

Per-tower amenities

"Provided on each tower that has them: refuge unit, society office, tower lobby… Add the same amenity once per tower."

  • One box per tower, headed "Tower <name>". An empty box reads "Nothing listed for this tower."
  • With no towers: "No towers yet" and "Add towers under Structure, then list what each tower provides."
  • Without the permission to view towers: "Tower names need the Structure permission; rows are still listed."

Each amenity row

The amenity's name, its category badge, then whatever was recorded of "× quantity · area · location · notes". A row that a Common unit created carries a blue From units badge; one that a parking area created carries From parking.

Under the row, the units that house the amenity on the Structure tab:

  • A per-tower row reads "Housed in 1101 (floor 11)" (several units are separated by commas); each unit links to its tower on the Structure tab. A per-tower row with no Common unit yet reads "No unit assigned yet".
  • A project-wide row housed somewhere reads "In Tower A, unit 1101"; one housed nowhere shows no line.
  • The Parking amenity is backed by the Parking tab's parking areas instead of units: "Housed in Basement Parking 1 (level -1, 40 parking slots)" on a per-tower row, "In Tower A, Basement Parking 1 (level -1, 40 parking slots)" on a project-wide one, each linking to the Parking tab. A per-tower Parking row typed by hand with no area reads "No parking area yet".

The link between the two is the amenity itself: a per-tower row is housed in the Common units of that tower that carry the same amenity, a project-wide row in any Common unit of the project. See Unit designation.

The amenity panel

Field Required What to enter
Amenity Yes Pick from the list; each entry shows its category in brackets. "Add new kinds under Settings → Lookups → Amenities." Message: "Choose an amenity".
Scope Yes Project-wide (shared by everyone) or Per tower. "An amenity is listed either once for the whole project or once per tower, never both."
Tower With Per tower Shown only for Per tower. "Add the same amenity again for each tower that has it." With no towers the list reads "No towers yet". Message: "Pick the tower". Without the permission to view towers the field is greyed out: "Picking a tower needs the Structure permission."
Quantity No A whole number, 0 or more.
Area (sqft) No 0 or more.
Location No Up to 150 characters, for example "e.g. Refuge floor 7" or "e.g. Podium level".
Notes No Up to 255 characters.

Without the View permission on Lookups the panel warns "Listing amenities needs the Lookups permission." and the Amenity list is empty.

What you can do

All the actions below need the Edit permission on Projects. Without it the buttons and icons aren't shown and the page is read-only.

Add amenity

On the Project-wide amenities card. Opens the Add amenity panel with Scope set to Project-wide (shared by everyone). Fill it in and click Add amenity. You see "<amenity> added project-wide." (or "<amenity> added on tower <name>." if you switched the scope).

Add on a tower

On the Per-tower amenities card. Opens the same panel with Scope set to Per tower; pick the tower. If you can view towers, it is greyed out while the project has none. No reason is shown on hover; the "No towers yet" note below explains.

Add

On a tower's box. Opens the panel with that tower already chosen.

Edit

The pencil icon on a row (hover "Edit <amenity>") opens the panel as Edit <amenity>. Change the fields and click Save. You see "<amenity> updated project-wide." or "<amenity> updated on tower <name>."

Remove

The bin icon on a row (hover "Remove <amenity>") asks "Remove <amenity>?", with "It is removed from tower <name> only." or "It is removed from the project." Click Remove to confirm. You see "<amenity> removed."

On a From units row that a unit still houses, the bin icon is greyed out; hovering it reads "Listed from unit <number>; re-designate that unit or clear its amenity to remove it". On a From parking row it reads "Listed from parking area <name>; delete that parking area to remove it". Change the unit on the Structure tab, or the area on the Parking tab, instead (see Amenity listed from a unit or parking area).

Things to know

  • Common units list their amenity on the tower by themselves. When a unit on the Structure tab is made Common (amenity space) with an amenity (in the unit panel, the tower generator or the units sheet), the amenity appears under that tower here with the From units badge, unless it is already listed project-wide. Its quantity is the number of such units, its area the sum of their carpet areas and its location "Floor 11, unit 1101". The row follows the units: another Common unit with the same amenity raises the quantity, and the row disappears when no unit of the tower houses the amenity any more (the unit re-designated, its amenity cleared, or the unit or its floor deleted).
  • Parking areas list the Parking amenity by themselves. A parking area on the Parking tab lists Parking under its tower here with the From parking badge: the quantity is the number of parking slots in the tower's areas, the location names the areas with their levels ("Basement Parking 1 (level -1)"). A parking area with no tower makes Parking project-wide instead: one row backed by every area, and the per-tower rows go. Adding or deleting areas or parking slots, or moving an area to another tower, rewrites the row; it disappears with the last area. A Parking row typed by hand is left alone and simply shows the areas under it.
  • Editing a From units or From parking row makes it yours. Save any change to it and the badge goes: the units or areas no longer rewrite or remove it, and it can be removed here like any other row.
  • Listing an amenity project-wide replaces its From units or From parking rows. Adding a gym project-wide when towers list it from their units removes those automatic rows (rows typed by hand still block the change, as below); the project-wide row then shows where it is housed.
  • Project-wide or per tower, never both. A clubhouse shared by everyone is listed once. A refuge unit on every tower is listed once per tower. This stops the same amenity from being counted twice. If you try to mix them you see:
    • "This amenity is listed per tower; remove those rows before listing it project-wide"
    • "This amenity is listed project-wide; remove that row before listing it per tower"
  • Each amenity once per place. Listing the same amenity twice project-wide, or twice on the same tower, is refused. The message reads "This amenity is already listed for the society." even though it means project-wide or that tower. Edit the existing row instead.
  • "That tower does not belong to this project." means the tower was removed or belongs to another project. Pick one of this project's towers.
  • To add a new kind of amenity (for example "Yoga deck"), ask someone who manages Lookups to add it under Settings > Lookups > Amenities.
