Edit <company name>
Change any detail of a company; only the fields you touch are saved, and a change of company type swaps the type-specific section and clears the old type's fields.
Edit <company name>
This page is the same form as New company, pre-filled with the company's details. Change what you need and save; only the fields you touched are sent.
Where to find it
Click Edit on the Company page, or the pencil icon on the Companies list. The breadcrumbs read Companies > <company name> > Edit.
You need the View permission on Companies to open the page and the Edit permission on Companies to save. Without Edit the description reads "You can view this company but not change it.", every field is disabled and the only link is Back. In the default roles the Administrator, Finance Lead, Project Manager, Accountant and Sales Manager can edit companies.
If the company can't be loaded the header reads Edit company, the error "That item could not be found." is shown and a Back to companies link takes you to the list.
What you see
The page header reads "Edit <company name>" with the description "Change any detail; only the fields you touch are saved." The sections Identity, Registrations, Contact & address and the type-specific section are described under New company. Changing Company type immediately swaps the last section to the new type's fields.
What you can do
Save changes
Saves the fields you changed, shows Company "<name>" updated. and returns to the Company page.
- Who: anyone with the Edit permission on Companies. The button isn't shown otherwise.
- When it is greyed out: until you change something. No hover reason is shown.
- What can go wrong: "A company with this name already exists." on the Company name field when the new name clashes with another company (capitalisation does not matter).
Cancel
The Cancel link returns to the company page without saving.
Things to know
- Changing the type wipes the other type's details. When you save after changing Company type, every field that belongs to the previous type (for example a promoter's CIN, TAN, incorporation date and RERA promoter registration when you switch to Vendor) is cleared so no stale registration survives. Nothing warns you before the save, so note the values first if you may need them.
- Deactivate rather than delete. Untick Active to retire a company that is still named on projects, opportunities, bank accounts, books or commissions; it stays on those records but disappears from pickers.
- People and bank accounts are managed on the company page, not on this form.
- History is on the company page. This form has no History button; open the company and click History to see who changed what.

A contact is a person; a company is a legal entity with people attached. The company type decides which registrations the form asks for (promoter, channel partner, vendor, contractor), and a channel partner's default commission feeds the commissions on the bookings it brings.
