Ask NirmaanOne (help assistant)

A chat panel on the right of every page that answers questions from the help articles, walks a how-to one step at a time with buttons that open the right screen, and checks live records such as a project's readiness as you.

Ask NirmaanOne (help assistant)

The help assistant is a chat that answers from these help articles. Ask how to do something, what a message means or why a button is greyed out, and it replies with the answer, the article it came from and, for a task, the steps one at a time.

Where to find it

Click Ask NirmaanOne in the top bar, next to the ? help button, or open the ? drawer on any screen and click Ask the assistant. Opened from the drawer, the assistant knows which screen you are on. Everyone who is signed in can use it (the View permission on Help & Documentation, which every role holds).

What you see

The panel docks on the right of the page and stays open while you move between screens.

The header

The title Ask NirmaanOne and, under it, what the conversation is about: the record open on the page (Context: booking B-0042, Context: project Sunrise Heights) when you are on a record's page, otherwise the screen (Context: /projects/:id/pricing), or Search only: the assistant model is offline when the answer engine cannot be reached. New chat ends the current chat and starts a fresh one; End chat (shown once you have asked something) closes the chat and keeps it on screen; the × closes the panel.

The conversation

Your questions on the right, the assistant's answers on the left. While it works you see what it is doing: Searching the help, Reading the article, Preparing the steps, Looking up this screen, Checking the project, Checking the estimate or Checking the unit. On an empty chat three suggestions are offered: What can I do on this screen?, Why is a button greyed out? and What is the next step in the sales flow?.

An answer can carry:

  • Text with a source. The answer ends with a link to the article it was taken from, and the articles it used are listed as chips under the answer.
  • A step card for a how-to: Step 1 of N, what to do (with the button names in bold), what you should see, and a button such as Open /chart-of-accounts that takes you to that screen. When the step happens on a record's page (a project, an estimate), the button appears only when you are already on that record; otherwise the step names the screen and you open the record first. Done, next moves on and marks the step green; Previous goes back; the bar at the top shows where you are. Open the full article opens the whole how-to on the help site.
  • A locked step. A step you cannot do yourself is still shown, with an amber note: the permission it needs, the roles in your organization that hold it, and up to three people to ask.
  • A list of articles when the question matches several, each with its kind (screen, how-to, troubleshooting, concept) and a padlock line when it needs a permission you lack.
  • A live check such as Sunrise Heights: readiness with Ready or Blocked and the blockers as the app reports them, plus an Open link. These checks run as you, so they see only what you can see.
  • A record card when the assistant has read a record: its status, amounts and dates, with an Open link.
  • 👍 / 👎 to rate the answer. When your organization has switched chat recording off, the buttons are replaced by Feedback off.

"Guidance only: the assistant answers from the help articles with your own permissions and never changes your records. Chats may be recorded to improve help."

What you can do

Ask NirmaanOne

Opens or closes the panel from the top bar. The conversation is kept while the panel is closed and until you start a New chat or reload the page.

New chat

Ends the current chat (it is recorded as ended, with its outcome) and clears the panel. Use it when you move on to a different question or record.

End chat

Closes the current chat without clearing it: "Chat ended. Start a new chat to ask something else." The messages stay readable, the input reads Chat ended. Start a new chat., and a New chat button appears under the conversation. Nothing more can be added to an ended chat.

Ask the assistant

In the ? drawer: closes the drawer and opens the assistant with the current screen as context.

Ask a question

Type in Ask a question… and press Enter. Questions can be typed in Hinglish; answers are in English. Paste a message you see on screen, in quotes, to get the article that explains it.

Ask about the record on screen

Open the assistant from a record's page (a booking, an opportunity, an estimate, a project, a demand, a receipt, a society, a member, a voucher, a commission, a run, a company, a campaign or a set of books) and ask about it in plain words: "why is the cancel button greyed out?", "what is still unpaid?", "is this project ready to sell?". The assistant already knows which record you are on (the header shows Context: booking B-0042), reads it and the records linked to it (a booking's demands, receipts and commissions; an estimate's approvals; a project's readiness, structure and stages; a society's members) as you, and answers about that record with its numbers.

Walk a how-to

Say "how do I …" and the assistant starts the matching how-to as a step card and gives step 1. Say "next" (or click Done, next) for the following step. Every step names the screen it happens on and the permission it needs.

Rate an answer

👍 or 👎 under an answer. "Thanks for the feedback." or "Thanks, we will look at this answer." confirms it. Rating needs chat recording to be on (see Things to know).

Statuses

  • Context: <screen> in the header: the assistant answers with this screen in mind.
  • Search only: the assistant model is offline: the answer engine cannot be reached, so the assistant returns the closest articles (and a how-to's steps) instead of a written answer. See The assistant cannot answer.

Things to know

  • Guidance only, never actions. The assistant explains and points; it never creates, changes, sends, approves, cancels or deletes anything, and it will not claim to. When a task needs doing, it gives you the steps and names who can do them.
  • Only NirmaanOne. Questions about anything else are declined with one fixed sentence that points you to a case with the NirmaanOne team; see The assistant declines or cannot answer.
  • It only answers from the help articles. It must find the answer in the help before it may reply; when nothing matches, it says so instead of guessing and asks you to open a case with the NirmaanOne team. It never invents a button or a rule.
  • It runs as you. Live checks and record reads use your own permissions; a record or a linked record you may not open comes back as a refusal, not as data. The assistant reads records; it never changes one.
  • Record reads are recorded too. With chat recording on, the id of every record the assistant read is kept with the conversation, so an administrator can see what was looked at.
  • Your organization's wording is understood. If your organization has renamed labels (see Rename labels), the assistant knows both the built-in and your own name.
  • Chats may be recorded. With Record help-assistant chats on (Settings > Organization), the questions, answers and articles used are kept for 180 days so gaps in the help can be found. PAN, Aadhaar numbers, phone numbers, emails and bank account numbers are masked before anything is stored. With it off, nothing is stored and answers cannot be rated. See Organization.
  • Locked steps are shown, never hidden. The assistant tells you who can do the step rather than skipping it.
  • Only the help content is searched. The assistant does not read your records except through the live checks above; it never changes anything.
