Sidebar, top bar and notifications bell
The frame around every page once you are signed in: the sidebar with its groups, the top bar with the notifications bell, the light and dark switch and your account menu, and the banners that ask you to act.
Sidebar, top bar and notifications bell
Every page you open after signing in sits inside the same frame: a sidebar on the left, a top bar across the top and, when something needs your attention, a banner under the top bar. This article explains each part.
Where to find it
It is always there once you are signed in. The sign-in, sign-up and password pages don't have it.
What you see
The top bar
From left to right:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Menu button (Toggle navigation) | Narrows the sidebar to a row of icons, or widens it again. |
| NirmaanOne | Takes you to the Dashboard. |
| Your organization's name | Reminds you which organization you are working in. It is hidden on narrow screens. |
| Pencil (tooltip "Rename labels", or "Stop renaming labels" while it is on) | Switches rename mode on and off. Only people who can rename labels see it. See Renaming screen labels. |
| ? | The help drawer for this screen: its article, how-tos and troubleshooting, and Ask the assistant. |
| Ask NirmaanOne | Opens the help assistant, a chat panel docked on the right. See Ask NirmaanOne (help assistant). |
| Bell | Your notifications, with a red counter for unread ones. |
| Sun or moon | Switches between dark and light mode. |
| Your email | Opens the account menu. On a narrow screen only the round user icon shows. |
The account menu has three entries:
- My Profile: your details, password and two-factor authentication. See My Profile.
- Settings: organization settings, users, roles, lookups, workflows, documents, AI connectors and the audit log. What you see there depends on your permissions. See Settings.
- Sign out: ends your session in this browser and takes you back to the sign-in page. Every other tab in the same browser is signed out too and shows the plain sign-in page. To sign out on every browser and device at once, use Sign out everywhere on My Profile. Sign-outs, like sign-ins, are recorded in the Audit log.
There is no search box in the top bar. To find a record, open its list and use the list's own search.
The sidebar
The sidebar starts with Dashboard, then shows these groups:
| Group | Items |
|---|---|
| Projects | Projects, Societies (only while the Redevelopment product pack is on under Products), Townships (only while the Townships pack is on) |
| CRM | Opportunities, Estimates, Bookings, Campaigns |
| Masters | Contacts, Companies, Bank Accounts, Charge Components |
| Accounting | Books, Chart of Accounts, Vouchers, Payments, Demands, Commissions, Revenue Recognition, Reports (the accounting statements), Compliance |
| Reports | Reports (built-in and custom reports on the reporting model) |
| My work | Tasks |
You only see an item when you hold at least one permission on it, and a group appears only when it has an item for you. So two people can see quite different sidebars.
Some screens have no sidebar item because they belong to a project or a society: structure, parking, construction stages, unit pricing, tenant benefits, the cost budget and tenants are tabs inside a project or society. The revenue policy is a tab of a set of books, reached from Books or from the Revenue policy button on Revenue Recognition. Lookups and the other settings are under Settings in the account menu (see Settings).
Click a group's name to open or close it. The group holding the page you are on opens by itself, and the app remembers which groups you opened or closed in this browser.
The icon rail
When the sidebar is narrowed, you see only icons: Dashboard, then one icon per group. Hover an icon to see the group's name, and click it to widen the sidebar with that group open. On a screen narrower than a small laptop the sidebar starts narrowed the first time; after that the app remembers your choice.
Banners under the top bar
- Email not verified (amber): "Please verify your email address <email> by <date>; after that you cannot sign in until you do." and "Check your inbox for the verification link.", with Resend email and Dismiss. After a resend the banner says "A new verification email has been sent." or "Email could not be sent right now; try again later." Dismiss hides it until you close this browser tab; a new tab shows it again. The date is 30 days after your account was created: until then nothing is blocked, after it NirmaanOne refuses sign-in until you verify. See Verify email.
- Two-factor required (red): "Your organization requires two-factor authentication. Until you set it up, most pages will refuse to load data." Use Set up two-factor authentication to go straight to the right part of My Profile. See Two-factor sign-in and Pages refuse to load data: your organization requires two-factor authentication.
What you can do
Open your notifications
Click the bell. The panel lists your latest ten notifications, newest first, with a blue dot on unread ones. Click one to mark it read and open the record it is about (when you are allowed to open that record).
- Mark all read marks every notification read. It needs the Edit permission on Notifications, which every default role has, and it is greyed out when nothing is unread.
- See all opens the full Notifications page.
The unread counter refreshes about once a minute and whenever you come back to the tab. It shows 99+ above 99. When you have no notifications yet the panel says "Nothing yet. Workflows will tell you here when something needs you."
The bell appears only for people with the View permission on Notifications. Every default role has it.
Switch between light and dark mode
Click the sun or moon ("Switch to dark mode" or "Switch to light mode"). The app remembers your choice in this browser. Until you choose, it follows your computer's setting. The switch is also on the sign-in pages.
Sign out
Open the account menu and choose Sign out.
Things to know
- Your session lasts while you keep working. A day without using NirmaanOne ends it. If it ends (for example after a password change or Sign out everywhere on another device), the app takes you to the sign-in page with "Your session ended. Please sign in again." and brings you back to the page you were on after you sign in.
- If the app can't load your profile, you see "Could not load your profile" with Try again.
- Renamed labels show in the sidebar too. An organization that renames a group or item sees its own wording. The icon rail's hover names still use the built-in names.
- Tasks sit under My work in the sidebar, but the role editor lists the Tasks permission under Workflows.
