New company

Register a company: its name and type, legal identity, statutory registrations, contact details and the type-specific fields for promoters, channel partners, vendors and contractors.

New company

This page registers a company. Only the name and the company type are required; the type decides which extra section the form shows, so a promoter is asked for its RERA promoter registration and signatory, a channel partner for its RERA agent registration and default commission, and a vendor or contractor for its category and MSME / Udyam registration. Registrations and people can be added later.

Where to find it

Click New company on the Companies list. The breadcrumbs read Companies > New. Promoters and channel partners can also be registered in brief from the project form and the opportunity form; the full details are filled in here or on Edit company afterwards.

You need the View permission on Companies to open the page and the Create permission on Companies to save. Without Create the description reads "You can view this company but not change it.", every field is disabled and the only link is Back. In the default roles the Administrator, Finance Lead, Project Manager, Accountant and Sales Manager can create companies.

Before you start

  • Company types come from Lookups. Choosing one needs the View permission on Lookups; without it the form warns "Choosing a company type needs the Lookups permission." and, since the type is required, no company can be created.

What you see

The page header reads "New company" with the description "Only the name and type are required; add registrations and people later."

Identity

"What the company is called and what role it plays for you."

  • Company name (required, at most 150 characters): "Company name is required". Must be unique in your organization, regardless of capitalisation.
  • Company type (required; placeholder "Choose…"; hint "Picks which details are asked for below."): "Choose a company type".
  • Legal name (hint "As registered, if different.").
  • Entity structure (placeholder "Not specified"; hint "Legal form of the entity."): Private Limited, Public Limited, LLP, Partnership, Proprietorship, HUF, Trust, Society, One Person Company or Other.
  • Website (hint "Optional").
  • Active checkbox: "Inactive companies are kept but hidden from pickers."
  • Notes (hint "Optional"; at most 2000 characters).

Registrations

"Statutory identifiers. All optional; upper-cased automatically."

  • PAN and GSTIN for every type.
  • CIN, TAN and Incorporation date for a promoter entity.
  • MSME / Udyam registration no. for a vendor or contractor.

Contact & address

"How to reach the company." Phone, Email ("Enter a valid email address" when malformed), Address, State and City pickers, PIN code.

Type-specific details

Before a type is chosen the section is titled Type-specific details ("Choose a company type above to see the registration and commission fields that apply.") and explains: "Promoters record their RERA promoter registration and signatory, channel partners their RERA agent registration and commission, vendors and contractors their category and MSME / Udyam registration." Once a type is chosen the section changes:

Company type Section Fields
Promoter Entity RERA & signatory ("The promoter registration under RERA and who signs agreements for the entity.") RERA promoter registration no., Authorized signatory, Signatory designation
Channel Partner Channel partner ("RERA agent registration, its validity and the commission this partner earns by default.") RERA agent registration no., Agent registration valid until, Default commission (%, 0 to 100; hint "Applied to new opportunities brought by this partner."), Authorized signatory, Signatory designation
Vendor Vendor ("What the vendor supplies and its MSME / Udyam registration for payment terms.") Vendor category (placeholder "e.g. Civil contractor, Legal, Printing")
Contractor Contractor ("Trade, MSME / Udyam registration and who signs work orders.") Trade / category, Authorized signatory, Signatory designation

A company type you added yourself under Lookups shows every type-specific field under Type-specific details ("Fields used by promoters, channel partners, vendors and contractors.").

What you can do

Create company

Saves the company, shows Company "<name>" created. and opens its Company page. Fields that belong to other company types are saved empty, so nothing stale is kept.

  • Who: anyone with the Create permission on Companies. The button isn't shown otherwise.
  • What can go wrong: "A company with this name already exists." on the Company name field when the name is taken (capitalisation does not matter). "That item could not be found." in the form's error banner when the chosen type was removed from Lookups meanwhile; refresh and pick again.

Cancel

The Cancel link returns to the Companies list without saving.

Things to know

  • Pick the type carefully. The type decides the fields you see, and the company pickers on other screens filter by it: a project's promoter picker offers Promoter Entity companies, and an opportunity's channel partner picker offers Channel Partner companies. Only a Promoter Entity can open books.
  • Default commission is a fallback. It is used as the basis when a commission for this partner is worked out without its own rate; the opportunity itself does not read it.
  • Bank accounts and people are added on the company page, not here: see the Bank accounts and People cards on Company.
  • Entity structure is free text underneath. The dropdown offers the common Indian forms; a value recorded another way still shows.
