Stage history
Every move of an opportunity through the pipeline, newest at the top: the stage it left, the stage it entered, when, and the note that explains why.
Stage history
The History tab shows how an opportunity travelled through the pipeline: each stage change, when it happened, and the note the app attached (the lost reason, an expired estimate, the booking number).
Where to find it
Open an opportunity and choose the History tab. It is shown to everyone who can open the opportunity (the View permission on Opportunities).
This tab is not the header's History button, which opens the History panel with every field change on the record.
What you see
A card headed "Stage history", with the note "Every move through the pipeline, with who or what triggered it."
The entries form a vertical list, newest at the top. Each entry shows:
- the stage it came from as a badge, or "Created" for the first entry;
- an arrow and the stage it moved to;
- the date and time;
- a note underneath when the app recorded one.
The notes you will see:
- the reason typed when the opportunity was marked lost;
- "reopened" when a lost opportunity came back;
- "current estimate cancelled" or "estimate expired" when the stage dropped back;
- "last estimate deleted" when the only draft was removed;
- the booking number when the opportunity was booked;
- "booking cancelled: <reason>" when the booking was cancelled and the opportunity became Lost.
When the opportunity has never changed stage the card reads "No stage changes recorded."
What you can do
Nothing on this tab; it is a record. Stage changes happen through the actions on the opportunity and its estimates.
Things to know
- Stages change only through actions: creating an opportunity (Lead), saving the first estimate (Estimate), requesting approval (Approval), booking (Booked), Mark lost or a booking cancellation (Lost) and Reopen (Lead). Nobody can set a stage by hand, so this history is trustworthy.
- The list does not show who made each change, despite the note in the header. To see the person, open the header History button or the Audit log.
- Each stage change also writes a system entry on the Activities tab, so both tabs tell the same story from different angles.
- For an allottee purchase the first entry is written when the purchase is started from the allottee's offer.
